about
Written in the late 90's , in classic Boston teen pop angst, the local indie musician kid that I was had a very negative view on radio and the music industry. This song had been buried in the 1/2 inch reel to reel tapes I had. I tried re-recording it with my friend Noelle and still never finished it. Reminds me that I have a ton of Noelle/Damone songs that I never released or made official recordings of. If you know about the band Damone you know I left the group early in the 1st record deal, only writing and recording 1 cd with them. Those songs were never meant to be heard, but that's a long story. I can however unearth the second record worth of material.
(I had a very negative outlook on the music industry as a kid. Call it sour grapes. Or call it a punk rock mentality. The music industry is not a world I was born into. It was a mystery to me that I only made sense of by way of conspiracy theories and negativity.) If you find yourself with an opportunity to share your music, make a little and have fun with good people, just do it. At the end of the day, the day ends. So make good memories and chase your dream, even if you only make it so far.
lyrics
People are dumb
Who buy these records
Label support
Force feeding effort
The music sucks
and I'm in living hell
It's only crap that sells
It's only crap that sells
It's only crap that sells
And I can't take it anymore
So many bands
With nothing different
Just mixing rap
with Heavy Metal
Or bubble gum
It's all been done before
It's always crap that sells
It's always crap that sells
It's always crap that sells
And I can't take it anymore
Now I'm stuck here hearing Stained
and not Saves The Day
Wish I had some way for cheap
to listen to what I want
I tried to call
The frigging hotline
Request a song
And waited all night
It never played
but Go Away played 4 times
It's always crap that sells
It's only crap that sells
It's always crap that sells
And I can't take it anymore
